Carruthers

Early season snow and a day of light winds and sunshine got me out on the main range on Sunday.

Leaving from Charlotte's it started looking like it was going to be more of a sight seeing trip, with solid windblown drifts mixed with large areas of ice. But it was a nice day so I when on anyway.

I got to the top of Carruthers and looking in to the bowl to Club Lake where I have skied before, looked ok but would be a long time before it softened enough/ if at all.

So I procedded around to the north face, to my surprise it had enough snow in the shoots and was softened nicly.

Being on my own I was a little intimidated by the steepness and all the rocks poking out at me for my first run since last season. But I siced myself up and when for it.

The boot out took ages but was well worth it and the views across to Sentinel were awesome. The camera in an iphone really can't capture the bigness of it all.

I ended up skiing down to the river you can see in the pic above.
